He can also make recommendations as to where your energy loss is occurring; drafty windows and doors, poor or no insulation, or other building issues.

SEER - stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. It is a measurement of an air conditioner or heat pump's cooling energy efficiency. The higher the SEER of your unit, the greater the efficiency and the lower your operating costs. The SEER measurement was developed by the U.S. Department of Energy.Ê Older units installed in homes may have 8.0 SEER or less which can inflate your energy bills. Newer units operate at 14 SEER or higherÊ and provide significant savings and often meet the even higher standard of the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Energy Star Program. As of January 2006, all residential air conditioners sold in the United States must have a SEER of at least 13. ENERGY STAR qualified Central Air Conditioners must have a SEER of at least 14.
